EA Will De-List Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 1, 2 And Mirror’s Edge From All Digital Storefronts At The End Of April

EA will be de-listing Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, Bad Company 2, and Mirror’s Edge from all digital storefronts on April 28, 2023, effectively making it impossible to purchase any of these titles digitally after that date.

Of course if you can still find a physical copy that’ll work, or already own the game, then you’ll be able to play it. Though EA doesn’t make it clear in its statement if any of these titles will be available to download indefinitely after being removed from sale.

“Starting April 28 2023, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them.” EA said in its statement.

“This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on December 8 2023. For Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single player campaign.”

It continued to say that these titles “hold a special place in our heart,” and gave short blurbs describing each title it’s taking away.

This is never something you want to see. Games being removed from storefronts, being made inaccessible to a younger generation of players who might’ve wanted to go back and find out why certain franchises are held in such regard.

As is always the case for these decisions, it comes down to EA not wanting to pay a small team to keep them and their services alive. An especially disappointing reality in the case of Mirror’s Edge, as its only online component was its leaderboards.

If you want to keep any of these games, then you don’t have very long before finding them will become incredibly more difficult.
