SEGA will release Sonic Origins Plus on June 23, 2023 as a digital and physical release, according to a now-deleted post on Comic-Book.
Those of you who already own the existing Sonic Origins will be able to upgrade to the Plus version digitally for $9.99. The standalone release will cost $39.99 and includes the original Sonic Origins, plus a host of extra content, including an artbook and reversible cover sheet exclusive to the physical release.
In addition, Sonic Origins Plus will feature 12 Sonic games from the Sega Game Gear emulated and playable in the game’s museum, as well adding Classic Amy as a playable character in Sonic 1, 2, 3, and CD, plus Knuckles playable in Sonic CD.
All previously released DLC for Sonic Origins will be included in the Plus version, too.
The Game Gear games are particularly noteworthy here, as they have not been re-released on modern hardware anywhere near as much as the classic Mega Drive titles.
Sonic Origins was released on PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in June 2022. Read our review here.
