Bella Ramsey has revealed that HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is unlikely to see the light of day just yet, revealing it may not end up airing until early 2025.
The Last of Us HBO wrapped up its first season last week, and will be getting a physical release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD in July. And, while a second season has been greenlit, Ramsey says it won’t be with us until at least late 2024. Here’s what she had to say during an interview with The Jonathan Ross show:
It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.
The second season of the show will cover the events of The Last of Us: Part 2, although Craig Mazin has said that it will take more than one season to cover the events of that game. Furthermore, Ramsey will not be recast despite the time jump between the original game and its sequel, as confirmed by Neil Druckmann:
The only way we would ever, ever consider recasting Bella is if she said, ‘I don’t want to work with you guys anymore. Even then, I’m not sure we would grant her that. We might still force her to come back to season 2.
