IO Interactive recently took all of its wonderful Hitman titles of the last decade and put them into one great package known as Hitman: World Of Assassination.
We also know the developer is going to continue adding content to this newly put-together world, but if you were looking to get a new, mainline entry Hitman game anytime soon, well then you’ll be waiting a while.
The next major or mainline entry in the series is “a little bit on hiatus,” IO Interactive co-owner and chief creative officer Christian Elverdam says.
IO Interactive’s upcoming
“We have such a wonderful platform where we can keep experimenting with what the formula can do and what people expect of it.
And then at some point, obviously, as any creative, it would be nice to then go in and say ‘Okay, well, with everything we’ve learned, what would that be if we had to re-articulate a sandbox – what would that look like?’
Right now, a new major Hitman game: that’s a little bit on hiatus, as we’re building another agent fantasy that’s also taking up a lot of our time.
But obviously we’ll come back to beloved Agent 47. He’s still very much in the heart of this company.”
At the very least fans can continue playing World Of Assassination and its newly added Freelancer mode, which adds hours of new experiences for players.
