PlayStation VR has many great games at launch, but with updates to the PS4 media player, allowing players to view video in 360-degrees, it begs the question: when will be able to watch PSVR porn?
In the past months, one supplier of virtual reality adult movies, VRPorn, told us that other platforms, including OSVR, are engaging with the adult VR community, and they believe that Sony may follow suit, with PSVR owners soon being able to watch porn through WebVR.
VRPornHub also expressed their plans to support PS4 porn on Sony’ virtual reality headset, stating that if PSVR has an open platform to support third-party videos then they would provide content for that audience.
Right at this moment, however, you cannot access VR porn through the PlayStation web browser. We know, we’ve tried. Though you can access cinematic mode and find PSVR porn sites, PS4 restricts you from viewing the content in 360-degrees. You’ll see an error message like: “Incompatible browser.”
You can still view porn in cinematic mode, taking advantage of the 226-inch screen while wearing the PSVR headset, just not in VR.
Now that Sony’s headset has launched, we went back to Daniel Peterson, CEO and founder of VRPorn, to ask him what his thoughts were now that PlayStation VR is in the public domain, and to see if any progress has been made.
“The PlayStation VR launch is probably the best thing for virtual reality since the Oculus Kickstarter in 2012. There’s more than 40,000,000 PS4’s in the wild, and Sony is putting some serious marketing might behind the PSVR rollout,” he told PlayStation Universe. "We are noticing a significant traffic increase which we attribute to the PSVR buzz. We like to joke that Sony, Google, & Facebook are the marketing arm of VRPorn.com.”
He then went on to say that adult movies could soon be accessible.
"We are now even more confident that PlayStation VR will eventually implement WebVR, which would make it fully compatible with adult WebVR sites, such as ours. Oculus recently announced that they will support WebVR. And all the other big players, like Google and Samsung Gear VR, are already actively involved in WebVR.
In an interesting blog post, they also state that there are three ways in which VR porn will be readily available on PlayStation.
1. Sony will release an update allowing users to watch adult content through their PS4 browser
2. The WebVR community, using a Javascript API, will provide access to PlayStation VR
3. Someone will create a workaround to make it happen
So, right now, it’s a matter of waiting for your virtual reality adult content fix, but by the sounds of it we shouldn’t have to wait too long. When it does happen, make sure you calibrate your headset so your vision isn’t blurred!
