UNDECEMBER is an Action RPG by LINE Games Corporation & Needs Games Inc. It’s releasing October 12th, 2022 on Steam and Mobile. In UNDECEMBER you fight large swarms of enemy groups by using weapons and magic and combining a wide variety of skills and supportive runes. There are no set Character Classes, it’s up to you to create your perfect build as you see fit.
If you’re a fan of the genre this may well be one of the hidden gems this year for you. And if you never played Hack N’ Slash games, it’s a great one to get started with, the game has a lot of features to keep you busy. In this article we discuss the top things to try in the game.
1. Campaign
The Campaign in UNDECEMBER can be enjoyed solo as well as in multiplayer co-op. In Co-op the difficulty increases but the amount of loot dropped also goes up. From the world map you can check the campaign progress. The are 5 Acts per Episode, with the Launch Build offering up to 10 Acts. The further you get, the harder it gets, but you also earn better gear.
2. Enchanting Gear & Runes
You can enchant items to change their options and grades. Enchantments require “Essence”, obtained by disassembling gear you no longer need and also obtained by farming for it. Go to the merchant in the village Saluto to enchant your items. Do note that once you enchant something this is permanent and cannot be undone. The effect of it is randomly chosen.
3. Raids
Raids are the most challenging activity in the game and the ultimate test of your skills! The Raids in UNDECEMBER are an 8-player mode, the goal is to defeat a difficult boss. Raids can be played two times per week but if your team gets wiped out during an attempt you may retry.
4. Chaos Dungeons
At the village Saluto you can find a Chaos Statue. There, Chaos Cards can be used to enter Chaos Dungeons. They become available after clearing the main episodes. The goal in these dungeons is to defeat the main boss, but you’ll also have to deal with large swarms of enemies. Chaos Dungeons can be enjoyed solo as well as in multiplayer co-op. The rarity and tier of the Chaos Card you use influences the difficulty and consequently the rewards of the dungeon. The Chaos Statue can also be leveled up by spending XP earned from winning the dungeons. The higher the level of your Chaos Statue, the higher the tier of Chaos Cards you can use and in turn you have access to more difficult Dungeons.
5. Spire of Barrier
Spire of Barrier is a game mode in which waves of enemies spawn and there’s a circle around you that keeps getting smaller and smaller. Your goal is to defeat enemies within the circle. The smaller the circle gets, the less room you have to move so it becomes harder to evade enemies and to stay alive. You can counteract this by picking up randomly dropped “Inner Light Items”. While this can be played solo, it also supports 4-player co-op and you may find it easier with a team.
6. Void Rift
Void Rift lets you replay campaign bosses, but more difficult versions of them that give better rewards. The Void Rift can be started at the village Saluto, after finishing Episode 2. The more handicaps you have in Void Rift, the better the rewards, but the more difficult it gets.
7. Relic
Once you’ve finished the 2nd Episode, go to the village Saluto and there will be questline that activates Relic. It allows you to summon an NPC to avoid you in combat. You can level up your passive NPC via Light of Life items that randomly drop from monsters (level 30 is the maximum). There are 12 of these NPCs in total that you can choose from.
8. Pets
Pets are cute little helpers that will pick up items from the battlefield for you! Be sure to get a pet to make your life easier.
9. Auction House
One very important feature in UNDECEMBER is the Auction House where you can buy and sell gear with other players. It uses the in-game currency called Ruby. It’s the go-to place to get some good gear that other players no longer need, but can make a big difference for you. Do note that if you sell items the Ruby will be credited to you after 24 hours.
10. Guilds
Guilds are as essential in UNDECEMBER as in any other online RPG. They are an option to meet like-minded players and offer rewards such as Runes from the Guild Shop, in exchange for Guild Coins. There can be up to 50 players per Guild. Make sure you join one with active players to team up for Dungeons, Raids etc.
