Sony has announced today that PlayStation 2 sales have exceeded the 5 million mark in the UK alone. In a press release today Ray Maguire, MD of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, stated that he felt the success of the PS2 was due to the wide range of games available and was delighted to pass the five million mark. The rate of sale is incredible and shows that PlayStation2 remains the console of choice. ‘Mr. Maguire also attributed success to recent innovations such as the Eye Toy and online gaming. The current top three games under all formats feature exclusive compatibility with the PlayStation 2 network gaming service.
