You probably wouldn’t expect to see Xbox boss Phil Spencer promoting the PS Plus Essential March 2023 free games on Twitter, but that’s exactly what he’s been doing following Sony’s announcement last night.
Yep, Big Phil used the announcement to declare how good it is to see more users having access to the likes of Minecraft Dungeons. Ain’t that nice of him, right? Well, yes, but there’s probably more to it.
With Microsoft probably not on Sony’s Christmas card list this year due to the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Spencer probably wants to do a spot of bridge building where possible, and this is as good of a chance as any.
You could also say that Big Phil is doing a bang up job of promoting Sony’s stuff, even more so than flogging his own company’s first-party games!
The deal with Activision Blizzard still hasn’t gone through yet, and recently the publisher’s CEO accused Sony if trying to sabotage the deal.
