Fresh on the heels that Embracer Group is looking to release 19 triple-A titles by March 31, 2026, the industry behemoth has also confirmed in its latest financial results that it will launch five games based on The Lord of the Rings franchise by 2024.
Right now we don’t have much info on these titles, although Embracer Group noted in its financials that acquiring Middle-Earth Enterprises has “generated a lot of interest among both internal and external partners for the Lord of the Rings IP, across different media formats.”
One of the games is almost certainly Daedalic Entertainment’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which has been delayed numerous times but is now scheduled for release in 2023.
Embracer Group announced following its acquisition of The Lord of The Rings IP that it is thinking ‘decades ahead’ with the franchise, although with five games out by next year it’s clearly not waiting around.
