Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver have announced that Dead Island 2 has gone gold, and what’s more, you’ll be able to play it a week earlier than expected on April 21, 2023. The game was previously set to launch on April 28, having been delayed from its original release window of February.
Dead Island 2 is scheduled for release on April 21, 2023 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
Dambuster Studios previously revealed that it plans to make Dead Island 2 the ‘goriest game out there,’ and confirmed that while degradable weapons are featured in the game, they won’t be too strict with the feature.
In addition, while most RPGs utilise a skill tree system for increasing your abilities, Dead Island 2 will instead plump for a skill deck feature.
Dead Island 2 has endured a tumultuous and lengthy development cycle that dates back to 2014, at which point it was in the works at Yager. Production then shifted to SackBoy: A Big Adventure creator Sumo Digital before transitioning to Dambuster Studios.
