Ashley Johnson, the voice actress behind Ellie in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us video game series, has heaped praise on Bella Ramsey, who portrays the character in HBO’s adaptation of the critically acclaimed horror game.
Johnson made the comments during the latest “Building The Last of Us,” which also features appearances by Troy Baker and Pedro Pascal, who of course played Joel in the game and TV series, respectively.
Seeing Bella really blew me away. I feel so connected to her, it’s like seeing Ellie the video game character come to life.
This was Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmamn getting together and being like, ‘how do we keep the integrity of this story and bring it to life on screen for people who aren’t gamers?’ And it feels like they honoured the game in a huge way.
Speaking of The Last of Us, Ramsey recently revealed that she has started playing the game for the first time. The first season of the HBO show is slated for release in July, and features a special 4K UHD steelbook edition.
