XCOM Director Aware Of Fan Demand For New Series Entry, But He’s Not Currently Working On One

Jake Solomon, the director behind XCOM and XCOM 2, has acknowledged that fans are eager to see a new game in the series, but isn’t currently working on a new XCOM at present.

Speaking with VGC, Solomon, who most recently worked on Marvel’s Midnight Suns, was asked about a potential new XCOM, to which he had the following response:

Of course, you can ask (laughs), you can join your voice to the chorus ringing out from the hills,” Solomon said when asked about potential plans for a new XCOM. I personally have no information on that right now and I say that because, truly, yesterday I was working on Morbius’ abbey outfits and recolours, so I am not working on it. I don’t have any secret agenda, I don’t know anything about XCOM at this point.

In an interview conducted with VGC last summer, Solomon assured fans that the XCOM franchise wasn’t dead, although it appears still to be on ice for the time being.

The XCOM franchise originally launched way back in 1994, and was rebooted by publisher 2K Games in 2012 in the shape of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified followed in 2013 and a full sequel to Enemy Unknown, XCOM 2, arrived in 2016.
